Hoover, Allen S.
November 27, 1930 - November 5, 2020
Allen S. Hoover, 89, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Fairmount Homes where he had resided for the past year.
He was the husband of the late Alta W. Zimmerman Hoover who died in 2014. Born in Farmersville, he was the son of the late Joseph O. and Mary H. Sensenig Hoover.
Allen was a farmer most of his life and then founded a metal building business in 1989. He was a member of the Blue Ball Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry A. husband of Dorcas (Sharp) Hoover of Dover, OH, Jay P. husband of Shirlene (Knepp) Hoover of Macon, MS, and Richard L. husband of Martha (Kreider) Hoover of Narvon; two daughters, Sharon wife of David L. Weaver of Coatesville, and Bonita wife of Lamar Weaver of Denver; 25 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer husband of Anna Mary (Kurtz) Hoover of Myerstown; and three sisters, Anna Weber of Alabama, Alma Eberly of Gap, and Thelma wife of Dan Wenger of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Adrian Hindal, and three brothers, Ellis, Willis and Paul Hoover.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 9, at 10:00 A.M. at the Blue Ball Mennonite Church, 401 Ewell Road, Blue Ball, PA with Bishops Ray Weaver, Joel Martin and Paul Stoltzfus officiating. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the Blue Ball Mennonite Church on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Kindly omit flowers. Hoover, Anna E. Esbenshade Siegrist
December 19, 1921 - July 22, 2020
Anna E. Hoover, 98, of Lititz, formerly of Ronks, died on July 22, 2020 at Landis Homes. Born in Strasburg, she was the daughter of the late Adam D. and Mary H. Denlinger Esbenshade. She was the wife of the late Landis B. Siegrist and the late Lester M. Hoover. Anna and her husband, Landis, were the owners and operators of the Quiet Haven Motel, Ronks from 1969 to 1985. Anna was a member of the Stumptown Mennonite Church and attended Landis Valley Christian Fellowship.She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross at Conestoga View and also volunteered at Landis Homes. She was very involved with church activities, and her hobbies included reading, traveling and the enjoyment of flowers - especially a prized rock garden she so beautifully maintained.
Anna is survived by: daughters, Betty J. wife of J. Nelson Keperling of Lancaster, Theda S. wife of Ulrich Klemm of Mechanicsburg, Ellene S. Gerow of Ronks, M. Susan wife of Darrell Zimmerman of Ronks; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; she was the last of her siblings; step-children Ruth H. Seitz wife of Nicholas Petchel of Enola, Esther H. wife of Paul Bucher, Manheim, Sharon W. Hoover wife of David Bucher of Fairfax, VA, Jay W. husband of Elaine Martin Hoover of Portland, OR; seven step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin E. Siegrist and a step-son Glenn Hoover.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Interment will be in Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery.
Hoover, Clair S.
March 6, 1927 - June 14, 2020
Clair S. Hoover, 93, of Goshen, died Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born March 6, 1927 in Goshen to Curtis and Cleo (Moyer) Hoover.
On Oct. 14, 1950 he married Donnabelle Garber. She died July 26, 2016.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristine (George III) Skyrm and a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Weaver both of Goshen; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Carol Leinbach of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son, Michael Hoover.
A lifetime area resident, Mr. Hoover was a middle school math and science teacher in Wakarusa. An active member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, he sang in several quartets. He was also a ham radio operator. Spending time with family was a highlight of his life.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 10 a.m. until the 12, noon, funeral service at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. Pastor Wes Bontreger will officiate.
Burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.
Hoover, Cody John
September 19, 2020 - September 19, 2020
Cody John Hoover was born silently at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept 19, 2020, the son of Lamar N. and Amanda M. Hoover, of Lewisburg.
Surviving in addition to his loving parents are two sisters, Savannah Grace and Melody Joy Hoover at home; paternal grandparents, John W. and Joanna B. Hoover of Lewisburg; maternal grandparents, Ammon B. and Erma Z. Martin of Mifflinburg; paternal great-grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Hoover of Mifflinburg, and Floyd and Jane Nolt of New Holland; maternal great-grandparents, Rufus and Katie Martin of Mifflinburg; and maternal great-grandmother, Mary Martin of Millmont. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.
He was preceded in death by one uncle, Jonah N. Martin; and maternal great-grandfather, Daniel Martin.
Graveside services and burial were held Sept. 20 in Mount View Old Order Mennonite Cemetery, Millmont.

Hoover, Dale L.
August 23, 1947 - December 4, 2020
Dale L. Hoover, 73, of Goshen went to his final reward on December 4, 2020.
He was born August 23, 1947 in Elkhart to Arthur and Gladys (Reichelt) Hoover.
On August 31, 1968, he was greatly blessed and married Bonnie J. Miller. They worked hard, laughed, fought, saved and owned many apartment buildings over their 52 years of marriage.
Dale is survived by his wife Bonnie; a son, Scott L. (Audra) Hoover of Goshen; a daughter, Dawn M. (Kasey) Wright of Bradenton, Florida; five sisters, Helene Hoover, Valerie Martin, Linda (Darek Gwadera) Hoover, Dorothy (Warren) Hege, and Lora (Bob) Wimer; a sister in law, Susan (Jerry Hoover); and a brother, Glenn (Ann) Hoover. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jerry.
A longtime resident of Goshen, Dale enjoyed spending the last 11 winters in Florida in retirement. He was an active member at Pleasant View Church,Goshen and Sarasota Community Church, Florida. He was a licensed plumber, electrician and HVAC technician for many years. He and Bonnie worked hard together in their rental business for 36 years.
Dale graduated from Flambeau High School, in Tony, Wisconsin. He attended IUSB. He also taught several years at North Central Plumbing Heating Cooling Council School in Elkhart, Indiana.
Dale never knew a stranger and would willingly give his last shirt off his back. In retirement, he spent time volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Service and was always quick to help widows and others in need.
Dale enjoyed cross word puzzles and playing Euchre. He also found great enjoyment riding on his boat and traveling both nationally and internationally.
Due to Covid concerns, there will be no visitation. A small private funeral will be on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at 10 a.m., at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Pastor Ron Diener will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to MCC Water Project or Pleasant View Building Fund.

Edwin N. Hoover, 81 of Stevens, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at Fairmount Homes.
Born in Earl Twp., he was a son of the late David and Ada (Nolt) Hoover. He was married 61 years to Erma V. (Good) Hoover.
He was a retired farmer from Farmersville and a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church.
Surviving are five sons and three daughters, Ada Louise Hoover of Narvon, Clair (Lois) Hoover of Morgantown, Esther Mae (Paul) Sadler of Curtiss, WI, Mary Ann (Lester) Witmer of Weyers Cave, VA, David Lee (Susan) Hoover of Charles City, IA, Edwin N., Jr. (Louise) Hoover of Ephrata, Joseph (Shelby) Hoover of Ephrata, and Philip (Beth) Hoover of Dayton, VA; 27 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister, Anna (Lester) Weaver of Quarryville.
Preceding him in death is an infant son, Ervin Ray Hoover; and a granddaughter, Katie Mae Sadler.

Elvin G. Hoover, 87, Goshen, died 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1933 in Elkhart County, to William Paul & Myrtle (Good) Hoover. On Feb. 19, 1956, he married Mary (Witmer) Hoover.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, Goshen, children, Eldo (Cathy) Hoover, Foraker, Eileen (Herbert) Wenger, Union, Michigan, Janet (Mark) Rodes, Goshen, Morris (Marcia) Hoover, Goshen, 17 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, siblings, May (Ted) BeMiller, Osceola, Rhoda Martin, Nappanee, David G. (Miriam) Hoover, Goshen, Clarence G. (Lauretta) Hoover, Goshen and a sister-in-law, Wilma Hoover, Dalton, Ohio.
Preceding him in death are his parents, infant brother, James Hoover, brother, Marion Hoover and a granddaughter.
Elvin was a member of the Wisler Mennonite Church.

Ervin Ray Hoover, born November 10, 2008, died August 2, 2020, age 11 years, 8 months, 23 days. He was the son of Ervin and Rosene Hoover.
Gathering will be held at their home Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at the Old Order Mennonite Scenic Grove Church Aug. 6.

Etta Z. Hoover, 88, of Frystown, passed away in her residence on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was the wife of the late Phares M. Hoover. She was born in West Earl Township, Lancaster County on March 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Rufus Z. and Lizzie M. Zimmerman Nolt.
Etta was employed for many years as a cook at the Shady Maple Deli and was a member of Hamlin Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
She is survived by sons: George Nolt Hoover and wife Marie W. Hurst Hoover of Elizabethville; Gerald Lee Hoover and wife Lynda Jane Sensenig Hoover of Myerstown; Galen Ray Hoover and wife Vera N. Martin Hoover of Gooding, ID; 23 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; siblings: Martin Nolt of Manitoba, Canada; Rufus Nolt of Lititz; Lizzie Gingrich and husband David Gingrich of Lititz; Lena Martin and husband Carl Martin of Ephrata; Emma Martin of Lititz; John Nolt and wife Vera Nolt of Lititz; Miriam Oberholtzer and husband Nathan Oberholtzer of Denver; Mabel Hoover and husband Raymond Hoover of East Earl; Ann Mae Hoover and husband Enos Hoover of New Holland; Lloyd Nolt and wife Reba Nolt of Lititz; Nora Burkholder and husband Carl Burkholder of Seneca Falls, NY; sister-in-law, Martha Nolt of Richland. Hoover, Eugene M.
February 3, 1960 - September 12, 2020
Eugene M. Hoover, 60, of Stevens, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from an accident.
He was born in Ephrata to the late LeRoy M. and Nora L. (Martin) Hoover and was the husband of Bonita "Bonnie" S. (Zimmerman) Hoover with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.
He was a member of Hinkletown Mennonite Church.
Eugene was a self-employed truck driver hauling agricultural products, especially for Mark Hershey Farms and Snavely's Mill. He enjoyed spending time with family, farming, and helping others.
In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by three children, Cody A., husband of Jodi (Martin) Hoover of Lititz, Jody R. Hoover of Ephrata, Cole R., husband of Lauren (Mapstone) Hoover of Lititz; two granddaughters, Emma and Harper Hoover and a brother, Warren, husband of Christine (Erb) Hoover of Stevens.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, from 5 to 8 PM at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 28th Division Highway, Ephrata. An additional visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020, from 9 to 10 AM at the church, followed by funeral services at 10:00 AM with Pastors Glenn Sauder and Gerald Fox officiating. Also, the service can be livestreamed at the church website Hinkletown.org. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Grace H. Hoover, 60, of 522 Wentzel Road, East Earl, died at home on Saturday, October 3, 2020. She was the wife of the late Amos H. Hoover who died in 2018. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Phares Z. and Martha Hoover Martin.
Grace was a homemaker and a member of the Black Creek Mennonite Church.
Surviving are 11 children, Charlene M. Hoover, at home, Leon M. Hoover, Denver, Jane married to Amos Hoover, East Earl, Martha M. married to Andrew Martin, Denver, Chester M. married to Katie Hoover, East Earl, Rachel M. Hoover, Denver, Wilson M. Margaret Hoover, 92, of Stevens, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at home.
She was born in East Earl Township to the late Samuel and Hettie (Musser) Martin and was the wife of the late Isaac Hoover.
She was a member of Springville Mennonite Church.
Margaret was a homemaker.
Margaret is survived by six children, Luke, husband of Ada Mae Hoover of MO, Ruth Hoover of Lebanon, Lucy Hoover, Verna Hoover, both of Stevens, James, husband of Ruth Hoover of Lebanon, Susan, wife of Warren Martin of Reinholds; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Hoover of NY; 30 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Samuel Martin of Gordonville and a sister, Lydia Martin of Myerstown.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Hoover; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and seven siblings, Alvin, Paul, Sarah, Elva, Minnie, Esther, and Mary Martin.

Martha H. (Fox) Hoover, 96, of Leola, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Hospice and Community Care Center of Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late Martin N. Hoover.
Martha was born in Earl Township on April 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Harry M. and Lizzie G. (Horning) Fox. She was a homemaker and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
She is survived by 11 children: Levi F., husband of Marie (Graybill) Hoover of Denver; Sarah F., wife of Sam Petersheim of Arbovale, WV; Esther F., wife of Edwin Brubaker of Memphis, MO; Carl F., husband of Lydia (Shirk) Hoover of Gorin, MO; Rebecca F., wife of George Brubaker, Jr. of Landisburg; Raymond F., husband of Janet (Martin) Hoover of Newville; Chester F., husband of Lena Mae (Musser) Hoover of Ephrata; Edna F., wife of the late Ezra Sensenig of Stevens; Ada F., wife of Curvin Nolt of Hurdland, MO; Frances F., wife of Irwin Weaver, Jr. of Memphis, MO; Ella H., wife of David Musser of Newmanstown; 65 grandchildren; 202 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by a son, Harry F., husband of Vera (Redcay) Hoover of New Holland; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
A viewing will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Rd., Ephrata. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Rd,, Leola. A private viewing and graveside service will be held for the immediate family only prior to the service. This viewing and graveside service will not be open to others who plan to attend the funeral.

Michael K. Hoover, 67, of Goshen, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Saturday, May 2, 2020, at home.
He was born April 1, 1953 in Goshen to Clair and Donnabelle (Garber) Hoover.
On November 29, 1997 he married Charlotte Weaver.
She survives along with his father and a sister, Kristine (George, III) Skyrm, Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
A retired computer programmer, Mike worked for Everence Financial. He was a dedicated musician and he enjoyed performing with several different local groups. Mike was a faithful Arsenal football supporter of the English Premier League. He enjoyed traveling, learning new cultures, languages and flavors; and always knew how to make his family laugh.
Private services will be held and burial will follow in Yellow Creek Cemetery, Goshen.
A musical celebration in his memory is planned for later this summer.
Memorial donations may be given to Mennonite Central Committee or College Mennonite Church for the music fund.

Myerstown - Ruth N. Hoover, 83, of Myerstown, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at her home. She was the wife of the late Paul S. Hoover who died in 1981.
Born in Gordonville on November 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Mary M. Nolt Sensenig. She was a member of the Elm Street Mennonite Church, Lebanon.
She is survived by her son Carl Hoover of Myerstown; daughters Phyllis wife of Stephen Mast of Kenbridge, VA, Janet wife of Enos Lehman of Chambersburg, Rhoda wife of Myron Miller of Partridge, KS and Lynda wife of Anthony Gingerich of Guys Mills, PA; brothers Noah (Esther) Sensenig of Quarryville, John (Pauline) Sensenig of Nottingham and Melvin (Phoebe Ann) Sensenig of East Earl; sisters Frances (Harlan) Martin of New Holland, Evelyn Snyder of Ephrata, Verna (Leon) Burkholder of Ephrata and Esther (Lloyd) Fox of East Earl; 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Stanley, brothers Milton and David and sisters Anna, Barbara, Mary Etta and Erma.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Swatara Mennonite Church, 10 Camp Swatara Rd., Myerstown. A public viewing will be held on Friday from 1:00 - 3:00 and 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Valley Mennonite Church, 7821 Lancaster Ave., Myerstown. Interment will be at the Zeigler's Meeting House Cemetery, Bethel.

Susanna N. Reiff Hoover, 88, of 831 Weaverland Road, East Earl, died Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at home. She was the wife of the late Isaac N. Hoover who died in 2008. Born in Upper Leacock Township, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Susanna Nolt Reiff.
Susanna was a homemaker and a member of the Weaverland Old Order Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference.)

Hoover at home, Vera, married to Eli Burkholder of Newville, Anna Mary, married to Samuel Burkholder of Ephrata, Mabel, married to Weaver Shirk, and Lydia, married to Ben Shirk, Jr., both of Penn Yan, NY. Also surviving are 69 grandchildren, 150 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Hoover of New Holland, and a sister-in-law, Anna Reiff of Lititz. She was preceded in death by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers, Aaron, John and Samuel Reiff, and by two sisters, Lizzie Martin and Ella Zimmerman.

Timothy H. Hoover, 13, of Millmont, entered into rest at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family, nurses and friends.
Born on October 11, 2006, in Lewisburg, he was a son of Warren R. Hoover and Louise (Horning) Hoover.
Timothy attended special education classes at Mifflinburg Middle School and Green Grove Special Education.
Surviving in addition to his loving parents are five siblings, Mary Anna Hoover, Joseph Hoover, Rosene Hoover, Paul David Hoover, Anita Hoover all at home, maternal grandparents Phares Z. and Anna H. Horning, of Mifflinburg, paternal grandparents, Mary H. Hoover, of Ephrata.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jonas N. Hoover.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at the family home, 654 Cold Run Road, Millmont. Hoover, Virginia Sauder
February 7, 1919 - October 8, 2020
Virginia Hoover, 101, passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Landis Homes. Virginia was born to George and Anna Sauder and grew up with her four siblings on the family farm in East Earl Township. She married Harlan Hoover and eventually moved to Elizabethtown, where Harlan became pastor of Bossler Mennonite Church. Both were active in farm life, raising six children, and serving the church congregation through hospitality. Virginia's enduring love of sewing produced clothing for her children and herself, as well as many hand-made quilts. In recent years she helped to finish hundreds of comforters for distribution by Mennonite Central Committee.
Her life was shaped by a steady faith in God's loving care. She was kind, gracious, and resilient and enjoyed keeping up with the news from her 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by five children: Carl (Janet Barge), Manheim, Clifford (Jane Martin), Westbrook, ME, Nelson (Carol Hess), Lancaster, Nancy (Richard Baggé), Waxhaw, NC and Jeffrey (Laura Lynch), Cedar Rapids, IA, and a son-in-law, Nelson Habecker of Lancaster. She is also survived by her sister Kathryn (J. Eby Hershey), Lititz.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, were a daughter, Janet Habecker, a daughter-in-law, Elaine Hoover, a brother, Melvin Sauder, and two sisters, Celestine Eberly and Leila Zimmerman.
A private family burial will be held this week. A service of remembrance will occur at a later time. Her family is grateful for the care she received from the staff of Landis Homes.

Anna Hoover Horning, 70, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020, at her residence surrounded by family.
She was born on July 28, 1950, in West Earl Twp, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Amos and Alice N. (Hoover) Hoover. On Nov. 25, 1971, in Mifflinburg, she married Phares Z. Horning, who survives. They would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this month.
Anna was a homemaker.
She was a member of Scenic Ridge Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference in Mifflinburg.

Edwin Z. Horning, 88, of Ephrata, formerly on Meadow Valley Road, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020, at Lincoln Christian Home.
He was born in Brecknock Township to the late Banks and Anna (Zimmerman) Horning and was the husband of Etta S. (Weaver) Horning.
He was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church.
Edwin was a farmer before owning and operating Edwin Horning and Sons Farm Machinery.
In addition to his wife, Edwin is survived by four children, Raymond W., husband of Janice (Hurst) Horning of Akron, Lester W., husband of Rose Ann (Sensenig) Horning of Ephrata, Edwin, Jr., husband of Nancy (Sensenig) Horning of Ephrata, Arlene W., wife of John M. Hurst of Lititz; 18 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Michael Z. Horning of Richland, Moses Z. (Edna) Horning of East Earl, Henry Z. She was married 44 years to Amos R. Horning. Born in East Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late John M. and Barbara Z. Sensenig Nolt.
Laura was a homemaker and the manager of Cedar Lane Dry Goods in New Holland. She was a member of the New Holland Old Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Reuben O. Horning, 81, of Ephrata, formerly of Akron, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in Bareville to the late Frank M. and Barbara (Oberholtzer) Horning and was the husband of Sarah Ann (Sauder) Horning with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on February 6th.
He was a member of Metzler Mennonite Church, where he also taught Sunday school.
Reuben was a truck driver for Martin Feed Mills and then for Sauder Eggs for 29 years before retiring. He enjoyed woodworking.

Aaron M. Horst, Jr., 91, a resident of Garden Spot Village went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 23, 2020.
He was the husband of the late Mildred J. Martin Horst who died in 2015. Born in East Earl, he was the son of the late Aaron S. and Anna Mary Mellinger Horst.
Aaron had been employed by Terre Hill Silo Co. from 1955 to 1984 and then served as the Administrator of Lighthouse Rehabilitation Center from 1984 until 1992.
He was a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church and had served as a Deacon from 1983 to 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. husband of LuAnn Horst of Lancaster, and Robert L. husband of Jeanne Horst of Harrisonburg, VA; three daughters, Julia A. wife of Allen Redcay of New Holland, Donna L. Horst of Lititz, and Sheila K. wife of Perry Hoover of Elizabethtown; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Horst of Ephrata. He was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Herr, Lester Horst, Glenn Horst, Clarence Horst, and Mary Horst.

Arlene B. (Eberly) Horst, 84, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at home.
She was born in Union Grove to the late Menno and Lizzie (Brubaker) Eberly and was the wife of the late Noah Z. Horst. The couple was married March 30, 1957.
She was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Arlene was a partner in Horst Plumbing. She enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

WEST SALEM – Esther S. Horst, 97, of West Salem passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare in Wooster.
She was born in Mahoning County on June 27, 1923 the daughter of Ezra and Susie Horst Knopp. She married Henry Horst on February 25, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1999.
Esther was a caretaker who always took every opportunity to care for others, whether in their home or through relief projects. She was a member of the Chester Mennonite Church. Esther was a loving mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her children Naomi (Everett) Lehman of Columbiana, Lloyd (Carol) Horst of West Salem, Pauline (Max) Beachy of New Bedford and Leona Horst of West Salem; grandchildren Joe (Debbie) Lehman, Stephen (Charlsi) Lehman, Ethan Horst, Jason (Mindy) Horst, Kevin (Lindsey) Beachy, Brent (Kara) Beachy and Sara Beachy; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Harvey Weaver and many nieces and nephews locally and in Canada.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a great-grandson and siblings David, Ida, Emma, John and Mabel.
Friends will be received at the Chester Mennonite Church, 4730 Rutt Road, Wooster on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 9-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service immediately following with Mr. Paul Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Eight Square Cemetery. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.

Newmanstown - Floyd E. Horst, 75, of Newmanstown, PA, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 in the Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. He was born on July 26, 1945 to the late Earl B. and Grace M. (Horst) Horst. He was the husband of Bertha M. (Heatwole) Horst. On August 15th they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a member of the Schaefferstown Mennonite Church and enjoyed serving others; Family, Church, 1 W Services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Schaefferstown EMS, Blood Donor, and Board Member of Hope Christian School. Floyd was employed as a farmer and later started his own masonry business, F. E. Horst Masonry in January 1989.

Horst, John L.
August 18, 1938-September 16, 2020
John L. Horst, 82, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Sept. 16, 2020, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Mr. Horst was born on Aug. 18, 1938, in Connellsville, Pa., to the late John L. Sr. and Emma Zimmerman Horst.
He grew up in Scottdale, Pa., graduating from Scottdale High School. He earned a B.S. in mathematics and music from Eastern Mennonite College and completed graduate work in physics education at the University of Virginia, as well as additional graduate work in music. He taught at Eastern Mennonite High School for three years and at Eastern Mennonite College/University for 37 years as an associate professor of physics and mathematics; his course load included courses in engineering, astronomy, and music. He was also a planetarium director for many years. In retirement, he taught the occasional course and has researched and designed a number of historical panels across the EMU Campus. Mr. Horst had a lifelong interest in music, both in vocal performance and in composition. He was in a male quartet in high school that reached state-level competition; he sang in the Mennonite Hour Men’s Quartet for seven years as well as in the Men’s Chorus and Mixed Chorus in the 50’s and 60’s; he has also sung with several community choirs, most recently the Valley Collegium Musicum. He has composed works for voice, piano, synthesizer and carillon. In his retirement, he compiled and wrote liner notes for nine CDs of music from the Mennonite Hour music archives and has recorded about 100 90-minute programs of Mostly Mennonite, Mostly A Capella for broadcast over WEMC FM. Mr. Horst was a member of Park View Mennonite Church since 1957 where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on various committees. He also enjoyed playing duplicate bridge, guiding tours at the Brethren and Mennonite Heritage Center, watching sports and traveling.
On April 1, 1972, he married Joan Graybill Horst, who survives. Mr. Horst is survived by his son, Michael Horst and wife, Stephanie, of Dover, Pa.; daughter, Grete Horst Johnson and husband, Christopher, of Newport News; five grandchildren, Caleb, Luke and Daniel Horst, Emily and Sarah Johnson; and by a sister, Rachel Witmer and husband, James, of Alliance, Ohio.

May 28, 1970 - March 26, 2020
Joyce Elaine Horst, 49, of McGaheysville, passed away unexpectedly at Sentara RMH Medical Center on March 26th. She was born on May 28, 1970, to Beatrice E. Horst and the late Henry K. Horst.
Joyce was a critical care nurse at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
She is survived by her mother; three sisters, two brothers, Mildred Ranck (Ken), of Mount Crawford, Linda Weaver (Cleo), of Lancaster, Pa., Jerry Horst (Diane) of Rockingham, Lois Knicely (Marion), of Rockingham, and Nathan Horst (Phyllis), of Weyers Cave. Also surviving are fourteen nieces and nephews.
Friends may pay respects to Joyce on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater from 12 noon to 8 p.m.
Burial will be private at Bank Mennonite Church Cemetery.

October 8, 1966 - October 1, 2020
Karl J. Horst, age 53, died Thursday, October 1, 2020, at his home in Dalton, following a short period of declining health.
Karl was born on October 8, 1966, in Massillon, Ohio, to Mervin and Ardella (Champ) Horst and graduated from Dalton High School in 1985.
He worked for Steiner Turf and most recently for Medina Sod and attended East Union Mennonite Church.
Surviving are his father, Mervin Horst of Dalton; and two brothers, Clair Horst of Orrville and Merl Horst of Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Friends may call on Monday, October 5, 2020, at County Line Mennonite Cemetery, 19199 Church Road, Dalton, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
Graveside services will follow at 10:30 AM.
The family has chosen to have a public event. Although funeral events are exempt from current gathering limitations, the risk of virus transmission from one person to another is much higher at a public event. Horst, Luke L.
June 5, 1922 - January 29, 2020
Luke L. Horst, 97, a resident of Landis Homes, transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. He was the husband of the late Ruth King Horst who died in 2013. Born in Brecknock Twp, Berks County, PA he was the son of the late Elmer K. and Katie Buckwalter Horst.
Luke was ordained as a minister in the Mennonite Church in 1943 and served for 26 years as a pastor at Fairview Mennonite Church in Reading PA. In 1950 he attended a one-year program for ministers at Eastern Mennonite College. In 1969 he was ordained as a bishop in the Bowmansville-Reading District of the Mennonite Church. Following his retirement, he served for one year among the congregations of the Gulf States Conference and for three years as overseer for Lancaster Conference churches in the New England area. For more than 30 years Luke was a board member of The Sword and Trumpet magazine in Harrisonburg VA. His gifts and abilities were also used in service with various parachurch organizations. He was a member of Gehman Mennonite Church.
Luke loved family reunions and family hymn sings. He enjoyed table games, especially Scrabble, and was a competitive player of shuffleboard, pool, quoits and horseshoes. He was an avid reader.
Surviving are six daughters: Naomi wife of James Weaver of Lancaster, Esther wife of Lewis Martin of Reinholds, Ellen Helmuth of Bethlehem, Margaret wife of John David Frost of Stoneville, NC, Nancy Perkins of Stoneville, NC, and Dorcas wife of Graham Cyster of Lititz; a son Thomas husband of Thelma (Weaver) Horst of Lancaster; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Samuel Horst of Harrisonburg, VA and John husband of June Horst of Elizabethtown, and a sister Orpah Kurtz of West Jefferson, NC, and by special friend Millie Shellenberger. He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Ronald Helmuth and Spencer Perkins, and by six siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 9, at 2:00 pm at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, PA. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family prior to the memorial service. A Viewing will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the West Bethany Chapel at Landis Homes, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz, PA. The family will also greet friends following the service on Sunday.

Martha K. Horst of Newburg, PA, passed into eternal rest July 10, 2020 at Lancaster General Hospital at the age of 69 years.
Born August 21, 1950 to Daniel and Esther (Kurtz) Martin, she was the wife of David B. Horst with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Martha was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers, sewing, and baking pies. She was a member of the Culbertson Mennonite Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five sons: James of Newburg, David (Yvonne) of Newville, Jonathan (Abigail) of Waynesboro, Phillip of Newburg, Daniel (Karlene) of Danville, and five daughters: Sara Weingard (Joseph) of Williamsburg, Sue Leid (Harold) of Thorp, WI, Teresa of Newburg, Rhoda VanPelt (Lamar) of Bloomsburg, and Mary Beth Martin (Daniel) of Unity, WI, 15 grandsons and 15 granddaughters.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Kathryn Hurst, Lewisburg, Arlene Zimmerman, Fleetwood and one brother, Ivan Martin of Denver, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Lester, John, Eugene, and Melvin.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Culbertson Mennonite Church, Chambersburg, PA. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mary C. Horst, age 84, of Dalton, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at her residence, following a period of declining health. She was lovingly cared for in her home by numerous family, friends, neighbors, and caregivers since her strokes in 2019.
Mary was born on May 15, 1935, in Kidron, to the late Albert and Edna (Steiner) Falb and attended Frog Pond School South of Kidron. As a young girl, she helped new mothers, aiding in the care of their babies. She married Byard D. Horst on August 7, 1955, in Dalton. Byard died on April 6, 2010, ten years and one day before Mary's death, from injures from a tractor accident on Route 30.
She was a homemaker on the family farm and provided quilt stenciling for private individuals, businesses, sewing circles and charities.
Mary was a member of Chester Mennonite Church in Wooster for many years, was involved in local Bible School programs, and wrote children's stories for the local church paper. She also was a regular writer for The Budget newspaper, contributing news from the Chester Mennonite Church. She was an avid gardener, growing a vegetable garden, and grew flowers around her home that people would drive out of their way to visit.
Surviving are three daughters, Lillian (Alvin) Stoltzfus of Blackville, SC, Donnabelle (Timothy) Mast of Greentop, MO, and Sandra (Lamar) Martin of Orrville; daughter-in-law, Juanita Horst of Canfield; 19 grandchildren, Jamie Stoltzfus, Wendel, Crystal, Michelle, Kimberly, Rodney, Lowell, Douglas, and Larry Horst, Eric, Roxanne, Sheldon, Shelly, and Valerie Mast, and Missie, Wylie, Shelia, Kanden, and Jolyn Martin; 17 great grandchildren, Davalyan Stoltzfus, Courtney, Kayleen, and Kenita Horst, Tristan, Lyndell, Lydell, and Kelvin Hostetler, Jadryk and Kiara Schlabach, Jordan, Colton and Hudson Mast, Wyatt and Ellianna Burkholder, and Tiffany and Jacinda Martin; and five siblings, Wilma Falb of Dalton, Howard (Mildred) Falb of Dalton, Linford Falb of Orrville, Gladys (Vernon) Graber of Linville, VA, and Delmer (Carol) Falb of Kidron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Horst on May 23, 2013; a great grandchild, Adrienne Mast; and two infant siblings, Irvin and Evelyn Falb.
Friends may call at the County Line Mennonite Church on Thursday, April 9, 2020, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Due to the COVID-19, visitors will be able to view in small groups at restricted distances. Ushers will maintain spacing of attendees.
Private services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 10, 2020, at the County Line Mennonite Church, in Dalton, with ministers of Chester Mennonite Church officiating. Miriam M. Horst, 81, of Ephrata, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Fairmount Homes.
She was born in Clay Twp. to the late Adam and Mary (Martin) Horst.
She attended Springville Mennonite Church.
Miriam is survived by four siblings, Allen, husband of Linda (Martin) Horst of Mansfield, NY, Walter, husband of Arlene (Brubaker) Horst of Womelsdorf, Mabel, wife of Clarence Wenger of Ephrata, Erma, wife of the late Harlan Martin of Stevens and 23 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sadie Mae Horst; a brother-in-law, Harlan Martin and two nieces.

Raymond Horst, 80, of Richland, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Richland Christian Home.
He was born in Ephrata to the late John J. and Ruth B. (Weaver) Horst and was the husband of Eleanor (Groff) Horst with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Raymond was a member of Centerville Mennonite Church, Eastern Conference. During his working years, he was a mechanic for Tyson Foods.

Ervin M. Hostetler, 79, of Arcola, Illinois passed away at 8:50 A.M. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Myron Hostetler residence, 191 North Co Rd 525 E., Arcola, Illinois. Bishop Ervin Plank will officiate. Ervin was born on July 27, 1940 in Geauga, County, Ohio. He was a son of Menno and Ada (Schmucker) Hostetler. He married Dorothy Herschberger on September 28, 2007 in Arthur, IL.

Esther E. Hostetler, 61, of Ligonier, died at 11:50 pm on Wednesday, October 21, at her residence; she had been battling cancer since January. She was born on November 8, 1958 in LaGrange County to Eli M. and LeAnna (Lambright) Miller. On March 27, 1980 in LaGrange County she married Marvin R. Hostetler, he survives.

Hostetler, Irma Jean Baker
June 19, 1936 - July 10, 2020
Irma Jean (Baker) Hostetler, daughter of Harley and Esther Baker, was born June 19, 1936, in Eugene, Oregon. She peacefully passed away in her home on July 10, 2020, at the age of 84 years and 21 days, after being bedfast around a month. Grandma suffered from dementia the last months of her life, during which she was lovingly cared for by her family. She accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized in her youth and was a faithful member of the Bethel A.M. Church until her death.
She was united in marriage to Sam Hostetler, son of Ova and Mary Hostetler, on May 13, 1956. They enjoyed the joys and sorrows of married life together for almost 61 years. This union was blessed with 8 children: 3 son, and 5 daughters; Lowell, of Berryville, AR; Linda, and husband Ray Hostetler, of Omaha, TX; Leland, (and wife Evelyn, deceased), of Green Forest, AR; Janet, and husband Sam Kropf, of Green Forest, AR; Dale, and wife Debbie, of Berryville, AR; Joanne, and husband Dan Hostetler, of Mena, AR; Rose, and husband Leon Kropf, of Berryville, AR; Beth, and husband Neil Shrock, of Berryville, AR. Also surviving are 44 grandchildren and 72 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Donald, and wife Loretta, of Tampico, IL; Delbert, and wife Julie, of Nashville, AR; 1 sister Karen, of Nashville, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sam; daughter-in-law Evelyn; 4 granddaughters Norlene, Kristine, Lisa, and Brooklyn; 4 great granddaughters, Makayla, Alivia, Malisa, and Brandi; 2 sisters, Judy and Darlene; and 2 infant brothers.
Grandma had a deep concern for the spiritual welfare of her family and church. She was concerned about drift in the church and had an appreciation for Biblical traditional values. May we continue to follow her example in supporting the work of the church.

July 9, 1923 - March 6, 2020
Joseph B. Hostetler, 96, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Landis Homes. He was the son of the late George M. Hostetler and Mary Smucker Hostetler. Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Dorothy S. Hostetler; 5 children: Glen Hostetler (Patti) of Mount Joy, Doris Miller (Gerald) of Lancaster, Mary Yoder (Marlin) of Loveland, Colorado, Judy Hostetler (Shawndra) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Margery Moyer (Steve) of Souderton, PA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David Hostetler of West Liberty, Ohio; a sister, Sarah Grace Miller of Harrisonburg, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Joe was a faithful member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church where he was a deacon for 22 years. Over the years he was also involved in Gospel Cheerband, taught Sunday school, and enjoyed singing tenor in a quartet, the Gospel Messengers.
Joe retired from Longencker's Hatchery in Elizabethtown after 31 years of service. He then worked at Wengers Feed Mill as a courier. An active member of the Landis Homes community for 20 years, he volunteered many hours in the mailroom. Joe enjoyed shuffleboard and was an avid reader.
Joe will be remembered by his kind and gracious manner and showed respect to everyone.
A funeral service honoring Joe's life will be held at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA 17543 on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11 AM. Family and friends will be received at the chapel before the service from 9 AM to 11 AM. Interment will be private.

Lois R. Hostetler age 90 of Colon, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2020 at her home.
Lois was born on July 14, 1930 in Battle Creek, Michigan, a daughter of the late Ray and Ruth (Annis) Miller.
Lois Graduated from Colon High School with the class of 1948.
On June 24, 1950 Lois married Dorwin C. Hostetler at the Colon United Methodist Church in Colon, Michigan. Dorwin would precede her in death on April 16, 1987.
Lois lived her entire life in Colon. She was a former member of the South Colon Mennonite Church. Lois lived out her life dream of growing up and raising a family on a farm. She loved her cat, and spending time with her family but most specially her grandkids.
Lois is survived today by her children: Doreen (Steve) Wagner of Colon, Richard (Audra) Hostetler of Colon, and Teresa (John) Salter of Colon, son in law Joe Farber of Jenison, 8 grandchildren: Sarah (Desmond) Kursinsky, Dr. Joseph (Lisa) Farber, Carmen (Chris) Zylstra, John (Katy) Salter, Luke (Katy) Salter, Cody (Tiffany) Hostetler, Rachel Hostetler, and Rebekah (Luke) Sharp, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Lois was preceded in death by her husband Dorwin Hostetler, Daughter Lynette Farber, 2 brothers: Wilfred Miller and Deo Miller, 3 sisters: Opal Bell, Beth Shumaker, and Lamoine Rank.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Lois will be held Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at 11:00 AM with pastor Clint Zehr officiating at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon. Mountville - Rosemarie G. Hostetter, 57, of Mountville, passed away at her home on, Thursday, December 24, 2020, with family by her side.
Born in York on June 6, 1963, she was a daughter of Elaine H. (Gingrich) Doutrich of Myerstown and the late Elvin L. Doutrich. She was married 34 years to Duane M. Hostetter.
She was a member of Marietta Mennonite Church (Keystone Fellowship).
Rose was a homemaker who invested thoughtfully into the lives of her family and community. We will miss her dearly. She has run her race and is now worshipping God forever.
Rose is survived by her husband and 5 children, Andrea L., married to Merlin Stoltzfus of Lancaster, Evelyn F., married to Nathan Nissley of Middletown, Marlin A., married to Amy (Weaver) Hostetter of Lancaster, Melissa R, and Erica D., both at home; and 4 grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Nelson R. (Rachel) Doutrich of Halsey, OR, and Dale E. (Carol) Doutrich of East Earl; and 2 sisters, A. Lynette (Wesley) Weaver of Priest River, ID, and Loretta F. (Terry) Musser of Salem, OH.

Hostetter, Stanley Eugene, 80, of Stuarts Draft, VA died January 30, 2020 at the same place from cancer. He was born December 16, 1939 at Newport News, VA to Amos and Irene (Mast) Hostetter. On April 7, 1962 he was married to Alice Hartzler, who was born June 26, 1940 and survives.
Surviving are children, Marie (and Ken) Showalter; and Steven (and Maria) Hostetter; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Warren Hostetter; Amos Hostetter, Jr; Gary Hostetter; and Doris Gullotta.
A granddaughter, Kendra Marie, twin grandsons, and a sister, Anna Day preceded him in death.
Memorial services were held February 3, 2020 at Springdale Mennonite Church, Waynesboro, VA with burial in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro, VA.
Huber, Levina Smucker
December 2, 1935 - May 22, 2020
Levina Smucker Huber, 84, Lititz, PA, passed away at UPMC Lititz on May 22, 2020. She was the wife of R. Dale Huber for 62 years. Born in Bird-in-Hand PA, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Stoltzfus Smucker and three brothers, Jonathan (Mary Glick Smucker Herr), Paul, and Marcus.
In addition to her husband, Levina is survived by her children Susan Huber (Barbara Moulton), Linda Huber Mininger (Richard) and Richard Huber (Maria Belen), her grandchildren Aaron, Emily (Jeff), Sindy, Camila, Ruben, Mikaela, Gabriel, Natalie, and Lucas, her sisters Sara Ann Landis (Henry Benner), Mary Ellen Dowling (David), her brother John Smucker (Irene), sisters-in-law Elma Smucker (Paul) and Dottie Smucker (Marcus), many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and loving friends.
Levina was a consultant at the Parish Resource Center in Lancaster for 25 years and a parish minister for 18 years. She graduated from Millersville University and Lancaster Theological Seminary, which presented her the Allan S. Meck award for excellence in ministry in 2001. Levina was ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1995 and served at churches in Port Orange, Florida, and Ephrata and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
During her life, Levina served on many church boards and committees. She served on the boards of the Mennonite Publishing House, Mennonite Magazine, and United Homes. She was also a member of the Committee on Women in Ministry of the Mennonite Church, the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of the Women's Mennonite Service Committee, and the Church and Ministry Committee of the Lancaster Association of the Penn Central Conference of the United Church of Christ. She attended Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster, where she was a charter member and served on many committees.
The great love of Levina's life was her family, especially her grandchildren with whom she spent countless hours. She also loved to read, travel, bike, and play tennis (in her younger years), and spend time with her friends. She will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Myerstown - Melvin K. Huber, 86, of Myerstown passed away at home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. He was born in East Earl, Lancaster County on February 4, 1934, a son of the late Phares M. And Lena B. (Kurtz) Huber. Melvin was the husband of the late Anna G, (Weaver) Huber who passed away August 24, 2005 and Edith G. High Huber who passed away October 24, 2019.
Mr. Huber was a retired farmer. He was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 9:30am in Fairview Mennonite Church, 111 Elco Drive, Myerstown, PA. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Hunsberger, Naomi Derstine
August 9, 1933 - August 18, 2020
Naomi Derstine Hunsberger, 87, of Goshen died Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Greenhouse Village. She loved to entertain people, and loved when her family was all together. She was an advocate for inclusion especially in relationships between the college and community in Goshen and between Haitians and Foreign workers in Haiti. She was a passionate sports fan and attended all of her children’s sporting events.
Naomi was born August 9, 1933 in Telford, Pennsylvania, to David D. and Mabel (High) Derstine. On June 13, 1959 she married Arlin K. Hunsberger in Blooming Glen, Pennsylvania. He survives along with three children, Michael (Susan Graber) Hunsberger of New Zealand, Sally Ann (Michael Fay) Hunsberger of Washington, D.C. and Susan (Trevor Bechtel) Hunsberger of Ann Arbor, Michigan; three grandchildren, Evelyn Hunsberger, Paul Hunsberger Fay and Sara Fay Hunsberger. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by infant sons, Steven Ray and John Paul Hunsberger. Her siblings include Howard (Hannah Kratz, deceased) Swartley (deceased), David (Maxine Troyer) Derstine (deceased), Thelma (William, deceased) Swartzendruber, Edna (Jay, deceased) Hostetler (deceased) and Joe (Rachel Yoder) Cressman.
A 1951 graduate of Souderton High School and a 1955 graduate of Goshen College, Naomi taught school in Pennsylvania before marrying Arlin. Naomi and Arlin lived in Haiti for 18 years. Naomi established what would become the MCC Self Help fair trade craft program in Haiti, hosted diplomatic entourages for a variety of church and government programs, and started the Afternoon Sabbatical program at Goshen College. She was a member of College Mennonite Church. A memorial service will be livestreamed from www.collegemennonite.org on Saturday August 29th at 4 p.m. A time of sharing and reflection will follow at 5 p.m.

March 9, 1934 - June 21, 2020
Barbara N. (Sensenig) Hursh, 86, of Lititz, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at her residence.
She was born in Lancaster County to the late John B. and Mary (Nolt) Sensenig. She was the wife of the late Paul H. Hursh.
She was a member of Valley View Mennonite Church.
Barbara is survived by eight children, Carolyn (James) Siegrist of Martinsburg, Clair (Carolyn) Hursh of Martinsburg, Earl Ray (Margaret) Hursh of Middleburg, James (Cindy) Hursh of Lebanon, Jay Paul (Jeanette) Hursh of Lititz, Leon (Diane) Hursh of Ephrata, Jesse (Marlene) Hursh of Morrisville, VT, Philip (Mary Kay) Hursh of Lititz; 64 grandchildren and 115 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by three brothers, Noah (Esther) Sensenig of Quarryville, John (Pauline) Sensenig of Nottingham, Melvin (Pheobe Ann) Sensenig of East Earl; six sisters, Anna (Titus) Burkholder of Ephrata, Ruth Hoover of Myerstown, Frances (Harlan) Martin of Ephrata, Evelyn Snyder of Ephrata, Verna (Leon) Burkholder of Ephrata, Esther (Lloyd) Fox of East Earl and a brother-in-law, Ellis Martin of Ephrata.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Sensenig; a son-in-law, Isaac Ray Sensenig; a daughter-in-law, Rachel Hursh; a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Valley View Mennonite Church, 194 Gockley Road, Stevens. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020, 10:00 AM at the Valley View Mennonite Church. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Anthony N. Hurst, 14, of Turbot Township, Milton, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at his home. Born Feb. 25, 2006, in Lewisburg, he was a son of Nelson E. Hurst and the late Brenda M. (Burkholder) Hurst.
Anthony enjoyed working with wood and making furniture. He was very skilled and was always a willing hand to anyone. He enjoyed hunting and trapping, and restored garden tractors.
He was a member of East District Mennonite Church, Watsontown.
In addition to his father, Nelson, he is survived by his brother, Nathan E. Hurst and his fiancé Morgan E., of Milton; three sisters, Christa Joy Hurst, Sonya Renee Hurst, both of Williamsport, and Bethanie Michelle Glick and her husband Anthony M., of Massillon, Ohio; maternal grandmother, Esther Souder, of Danville; and paternal grandmother, Mary K. Hurst, of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Hurst; maternal grandfather, Ivan S. Burkholder, and paternal grandfather, David E. Hurst.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 13 and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at East District Mennonite Church, 71 East District Road, Watsontown, where the funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m.Sunday, June 14 with Pastor Tim Stoltzfus officiating.
Burial will follow in East District Mennonite Church Cemetery, Watsontown.

July 22, 1924 - October 26, 2020
Arlene S. Hurst, 96, of Lititz, formerly of Akron, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Landis Homes.
She was born in Ephrata Township to the late Aaron G. and Maggie (Sauder) Martin and was the wife of the late Clarence A. Hurst who passed away in 1975.
She was a lifelong member of Ephrata Mennonite Church, now Alive Church.
Arlene worked in the office of Oregon Dairy. She enjoyed reading and baking cookies, especially to share at Christmas time. She also made wonderful potato rolls.
Arlene is survived by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hurst of Leola; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, J. Elvin, husband of Laverne Martin of Lancaster and two sisters, Margaret Martin of Lititz, Lois J., wife of Leon Zimmerman of Lititz.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Hurst and two sisters, E. Naomi Martin, Mae S. Schneider Metzler.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Landis Homes for the excellent care Arlene received during her time there.
Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Metzler Mennonite Cemetery.

Brenda M. Hurst, 58, of Turbot Township, Milton, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at her home.
Born Jan. 20, 1962, in Ephrata, she was the daughter of Esther (Zimmerman) Souder and the late Ivan S. Burkholder. On March 20, 1982, she married Nelson E. Hurst and together they celebrated 38 years of marriage.
Brenda had a passion for young children and a good heart. She was a member of East District Mennonite Church, Watsontown, where she was an active participant with the food pantry and the ladies outreach program. She was a stay-at-home mom and was very involved in home schooling.
Also, Brenda taught at Maranatha Christian School for a period of time. She coordinated the Good News Bible Club for local children.
In addition to her husband, Nelson, she is survived by her son, Nathan E. Hurst and his fiancé Morgan E., of Milton; three daughters, Christa Joy Hurst, Sonya Renee Hurst, both of Williamsport, and Bethanie Michelle Glick and her husband Anthony M., of Massillon, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tonya, Kyra, and Eliana Glick; three brothers, Jay (Esther) Burkholder, Jim (Judy) Burkholder, both of Danville, and Stanley Burkholder, of Milton; and two sisters, Cathy (Gary) Smith, of Mifflinburg, and Caren Burkholder, of Danville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan S. Burkholder; son, Anthony Hurst; and three brothers, Glen, Mark, and Steven Burkholder.

Jerilyn E. Hurst, 74, of Ephrata, formerly of Denver, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Lincoln Christian Home.
She was born in East Earl Township to the late David and Edna (Snader) Weaver and was the wife of the late Glenn Nelson Hurst who passed away in 2014.
She was a member of Weaverland Frame Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).
Jerilyn worked as a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family.
Jerilyn is survived by four children, Byron G., husband of Joyce (Martin) Hurst of Denver, Michelle D., wife of Brian Nolt of Reinholds, Audrey B., wife of Merle Good of Newmanstown, Jerilyn Renee, wife of Sheldon Martin of Denver; a daughter-in-law, Glenda B. Hurst of Denver; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ira, husband of Grace Weaver of Bernville, Melvin, husband of Emma Weaver of Ickesburg, Robert, husband of Glenda Weaver of New Providence and a sister, Grace, wife of Daniel Martin of Quarryville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death a son, Philip S. Hurst and a daughter, Ardell E. Hurst.

Philip S. Hurst, 43, of Denver, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at home.
He was born in West Cocalico Twp. to Jerilyn (Weaver) Hurst and the late Glenn N. Hurst. He was the husband of Glenda B. Hurst with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.
He was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church.
Philip was an auctioneer and a sales representative for Garden Spot Furniture.
In addition to his wife and mother, Philip is survived by five children, Austin S. Hurst, fiancé of Kaitlyn Zimmerman, Kelsey N. Hurst, Bradley T. Hurst, Heather L. Hurst, Lauren N. Hurst, all at home; four siblings, Byron G., husband of Joyce (Martin) Hurst of Denver, Michelle D., wife of Brian Nolt of Reinholds, Audrey B., wife of Merle Good of Newmanstown, Jerilyn Renee, wife of Sheldon Martin of Denver.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ardell E. Hurst.
Services will be private at convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the Lime Rock Mennonite Cemetery.
